From Wednesday 16 – Thursday 24 July 2008, the State of Design Festival will cement Victoria as a hub of Australian design. The festival has four key elements: The Premier’s Design Awards, recognising design excellence in Victoria; DESIGN CAPITAL, Australia’s first multi-disciplinary design and business conference; DESIGN FOR EVERYONE, a state-wide cultural program of exhibitions, open studios, walks and talks; and DESIGN:MADE:TRADE, the wholesale showcase for innovative and emerging design brands.

Festival Artistic Director, Ewan McEoin, says,'This Festival provides an accessible and relevant opportunity for the many creative individuals and groups throughout Victoria to tell their story, to showcase their talent to the broadest possible audience. This will allow the design sector to promote and communicate the many ways in which design adds value, provokes delight and creates change.'

Taking place in Melbourne at the Melbourne Museum and other locations, as well as in regional centres across Victoria, the STATE OF DESIGN has something for everyone – awards, exhibitions, lectures, walks, talks, shows and parties – offering conversations on design: what it does and what it means to us all.
