New opportunity to attend a residency in Beijing China via the Chippendale New World Art Prize valued at $100,000 over 10 years. Dr. Stanley Quek, Chairman of Frasers Property Australia, has entrusted the Chippendale Creative Precinct to foster the next generation of emerging artists through this exciting initiative.
The Chippendale New World Art Prize is now accepting entries. The prize encourages artists to create works around the theme of Revitalisation celebrating Chippendale as a bustling, populous and creative metropolis. Artists, Students & Creative Agencies are eligible to apply. All mediums are accepted!
What the winner will receive
In 2013 the winner will receive a $10,000 residency grant with Red Gate Residency in Beijing, China for 3 months beginning July – September 2013. In addition the winner will receive an exclusive opportunity for a solo exhibition at NG Art Gallery, Chippendale in 2014.
Submission deadlines
Submissions by Tuesday 16 April 2013.
Successful applicants notified by Tuesday 23 April 2013.
Successful applicants works to be installed on Sunday 28 April & Monday 29 April 2013.
Winners announced on Tuesday 30 April 2013.
Submission requirements
1. A photograph of the artwork or a concept outline;
2. Your resume up to a maximum of 2 printed A4 pages
3. In the case you are submitting a concept, please provide up to 6 (low-resolution/ 72 dpi) images/photographs of previous similar artworks and/or concepts to support the assessment of the submission.
There is an entry fee of $30.00. Payment details are to be supplied on the entry form.

The Judges of the Chippendale New World Art Prize will be Director of the National Arts School, Professor Anita Taylor; Dean of Sydney College of the Arts, Professor Colin Rhodes; Head of Design at UTS, Dr. Lawrence Wallen, and Director and Curator of NG Art Gallery and Beams Festival Director, Nicky Ginsberg.
