The He Made She Made Concept Gallery is a new gallery on Sydney’s Oxford Street which aims to showcase and promote the work of creative Australians whom are otherwise under-represented. The space will open with a self-titled exhibition by He Made She Made, a Sydney-based collective formed by four individuals who challenge the borders between art and design.
He Made She Made is made up of Laura Kepreotis, Bent Patterson, Maaike Pullar and Patrick Chambers. According to the collective, together they create and curate works that fit comfortably within either paradigm, bringing to life objects that might be considered art, but often encompass the functionality and utility of a design piece. “’The launch of He Made She Made will showcase a snapshot of raw Australian creative talent who are in need of exposure here in Sydney,” says Kepreotis. “We are amazed at the response from the creative community so far. Their support, interest and commitment has humbled us and we see this as a sign of good things to come.”
The space came about through the City of Sydney’s call-out for artists, writers and other creative enterprises to set-up on Oxford Street. The council aims to revitalise the area by encouraging and engaging the city’s creative community.
