Celebrate Korean culture on the closing weekend of the exhibition Spirit of Jang-in: treasures of Korean metal craft, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 February, 11.00 am – 3.00 pm, when Joungmee Do demonstrates traditional inlay techniques.

Internationally renowned jewellery and metalwork artist Joungmee Do utilizes traditional Korean metal inlay techniques in a contemporary fashion. Joungmee will demonstrate the Korean metal inlay technique choum iybsa which she uses widely in work as part of our celebration of Korean culture. Her work is featured in the exhibition.
Joungmee Do was born and educated in Korea. She came to Australia in 1997 to further her studies in Gold and Silversmithing and has made her home here since 2003.
Working as a jewellery and metalwork artist Do uses traditional Korean metal inlay techniques in a contemporary fashion. Her works have been exhibited in numerous national and international events and was the 1999 winner of the Grand Prize at the prestigious Itami exhibition in Japan. She was also the recipient of the Arts Centre Silver Acquisitive Award at the Contemporary Australian Silver & Metalwork Exhibition in 2009.
Her work is currently exhibited in the Spirit of jang-in: treasures of Korean metal craft exhibition and she is represented at major retail galleries in Melbourne and Canberra.
