An international competition that targets the world’s innovators under 30 years old. Lexus welcomes innovators and calls for “DESIGN” that responds to various issues in daily life in relation to “Motion” and provides solutions.
The official launch will be announced at the Lexus booth during TOKYO DESIGNERS WEEK from October 30, 2012 (Tuesday) to November 5, 2012 (Monday). The application period will be from October 30, 2012 (Tuesday) to December 31, 2012 (Monday). The winners will be announced and their works will be exhibited during Milan Design Week in April 2013.
The LEXUS DESIGN AWARD will provide an opportunity for young innovators from around the world to work with a world-famous designer as a “mentor”, make prototypes from their ideas and exhibit the results during Milan Design Week in 2013. Lexus hopes to contribute to nurturing and supporting young creators who enrich our world.
AWARD THEME: MOTION
The theme of the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2012 is motion – a word and concept directly connected to people’s everyday lives. Under this theme, Lexus welcomes innovators and calls for works that display a deep understanding of Lexus design, uniquely interpret concepts and provide original perspectives on and solutions to various issues of daily life. Lexus welcomes designers’ from all fields, such as architecture, product design and fashion.

AWARD PRIZE
Ten entries will be selected to receive awards as “award winners.” The creators of the awarded works will be invited to the Milan Design Week.*
- Two entries among the ten award winners will receive up to five million yen each to cover prototype production costs.
- The designers of the two entries will create prototypes of their awarded designs between February and March 2013 through sessions with two assigned mentors.
- The two prototypes and panel displays of the other eight awarded designs will be exhibited in the Lexus space at the Milan Design Week in 2013.
