Jar and sweets, 'Allen's Candy Jar', plastic / paper / food ingredients, made by Allen's, used at Keary's Milkbar, Sydney, Australia, 1960-1990.

A spherical, clear, plastic jar with two flat sides, a flat base and a white plastic screw top lid. Inside the jar are chocolate freckles. There is a paper label glued to the front of the jar and another larger paper label glued to the back of the jar that provides manufacturing details.

Production notes

The sweets were made by Allens Sweets in South Melbourne Victoria between 1960 and 1990.

History notes

The sweets were part of Vic Keary's milkbar Keary's Corner in Strathfield. This site had been a lolly shop since 1912, and had been operated as a milkbar since the 1950s.
