Shawl, goat fleece, loom woven/hand sewn, Kashmir, India, 1840-1860 (OF). Cashmere wall hanging, yellow centre panel, surround design of pear or cone, and foliate typical style, predominating colours red/yellow/green/ blue, size 11 ft 6 ins x 4 ft 9 ins, c. 1850 (LC). Woven in sections in double interlock twill tapestry technique, known as kani in Kashmir, with the sections almost invisibly hand stitched together (Christina Sumner 2.11.95).Acquisition credit line
