Description
Teapot, "Sepik", earthenware, Marco Zannini/Memphis, Italy, 1983-1986.

Teapot, earthenware, slip-cast, in post modern style. Body in black, roughly spherical, but with front and back flattened, allowing for it to be positioned vertically. From the front centre protrudes a cylindrical black neck and ring collar from which protrudes a narrow cylindrical spout. From the back centre protrudes a cylindrical black tube widening into a slightly wider ultramarine coloured, cylindrical collar. This is finished with a vertical, square plate coloured aquamarine and decorated centre back with a small knob. An ultramarine coloured handle arches acros the top from the centre of the sphere to the collar at the back. A small yellow stopper with flaring knop protrudes from the top of the sphere at the front. The object rests at an angle, slanting up from back to front. The interior is finished with a [clear] glaze.
