In this 45 minute video conference aimed at regional and western Sydney tertiary students, visual artist Agatha Gothe-Snape is joined by Performance Space Program Manager Tulleah Pearce and MAAS Curator Contemporary Katie Dyer for a discussion on the artist’s background and practice, and the making of the performance work Rhetorical Chorus, featured in the exhibition This is a Voice. Agatha will also show a sample of her artwork broadcast live. There will be ample opportunities during the video conference for students to ask the artist questions.
Agatha Gothe-Snape will be ‘artist in residence’ at MAAS Powerhouse in August for This is a Voice exhibition. Agatha’s work covers performance, PowerPoint slideshows, workshops, texts, visual scores and collaboratively produced art objects. She has exhibited in major international biennales such as the 20th Biennale of Sydney (2016), PERFORMA, New York (2015) and the 8th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, (2014). Her work is in the collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales; the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art at the University of Western Australia; Griffith University Art Collection, Brisbane; Heide Museum of Modern Art; Monash University Museum of Art; the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria, to name a few.
