The Global Service Jam is about developing new services. In the Global Service Jam, small teams in locations all over the world will be working together for 48 intensive hours to build entirely new service solutions. These small and effective teams combine multiple skills from various fields. These diverse teams will move from ideas to hands-on solutions using methods from design thinking, innovative problem solving, and rapid prototyping – with experienced designer thinkers as their mentors.
The Global Service Jam is all about learning by doing – and having fun! The Global Service Jam is open for everyone; all that is required is an enthusiastic attitude towards developing services and willingness to get one’s hands dirty. Whether you are an experienced professional or just getting to know design thinking (applied across Service Design, UX, CX, innovation.. etc), Jamming brings you together with other like-minded people to create new ideas and concepts.
For many, a Jam is their first contact with Design Thinking… it can be a great opportunity to flex your creative muscles, meet other like minded individuals, have some fun, challenge yourself, and try out new tools if you’re already a practitioner! It really is not a hackathon and we don’t encourage people to bring their pre-conceived projects to this – we start completely fresh!
This year the Jam Melbourne crew along with RXP Collective are hosting the weekend event in Melbourne city center. Tickets cost $80-$100, which goes towards covering all of the catering, drinks, props and prototyping materials. This ticket entitles you to participate in the event and join 4,000 others around the world – the Global Service Jam. The Global Service Jam is a non-profit event and Jam Melbourne follows this protocol. Please be advised that any last minute drop-outs will not be refunded (if you can’t make it last minute or can only attend one of the days on the weekend).
